The concept of healthy, local, seasonal, natural and organic foods is not really new to me.
I had the privilege of growing up in a small town in Serbia, where I spent many summers on my grandparents’ farm, learning how to raise farm animals, grow organic food and live sustainably.
Sustainability wasn’t an option or a conscious choice, but an obvious and natural way of life.
Soon after moving to Canada in 1996, I experienced many moral and ethical dilemmas, which at the age of 18 led me to vegetarianism. As an eco/animal rights vegetarian (and later on - a vegan) I had never really made a distinct correlation between my diet and health (or lack thereof).
However, I definitely felt it and showed it by excess weight and lack of vitality.
2008 indicated a brand new chapter in my life. Through the magic of YouTube I discovered raw foods! My focus shifted from a headspace of anger and hopeless negative reinforcement to a desire to achieve my fullest potential with the aid of proper nutrition and positive thinking.
My compassion towards our planet and the animals still remains.
However, the judgment and negativity toward environmental and animal injustice is now replaced by a positive outlook - walking the walk and educating others on making better choices.
Raw veganism has raised my health to a level that I’ve never experienced before, where I now feel like anything is possible.
Doors keep opening and opportunities are never coincidences.
Being a full time musician for many years has allowed me to build my creativity, which I have now transferred to the culinary world of simple and gourmet raw foods, as well as the art of video/film making. From the moment that I set out with the intention to change the course of my life, taking the initiative to apply for a job at Nature’s Emporium, I have felt nothing but gratitude every day since.
Nature’s Emporium is an incredible platform that allows me to pursue all of my dreams, while still providing a very significant value to our customers’ on their road to health.
