Food for Thought...

Food For Thought: "I don't want to be the designated cook around here!!" How many times have we heard or announced this lament in our family? Growing up in the '70's, it was "all hands on deck!" when it came to preparing meals. Why has it changed? Wasn't modern technology supposed to create more time for us? So why is it we have "no time" to do anything including cooking together? Maybe today's speedy technology has removed the pleasure of some of the more slower tasks - like cooking together, conversing over a cup of coffee or just enjoying a moment with someone. Maybe today's advancements have made us misplace our priorities; Or maybe just conditioned us to be lazy! It takes 20 minutes for 2 people to make a simple nutritious meal.....don't let the fast paced world convince you otherwise!- Andrew Muto, Food Director

    Here is an idea to try out once a month - whatever the favourite dinner for a person in the family may be - they should either have the responsiblity for shopping for all of the ingredients - or if everything is already on hand in the kitchen, doing all of the prep work...until they feel they could take it on single handedly... This promotes respect for what it takes to put a meal together, and true respect and understanding is often all it  really takes to lighten the load.

    This goes for other household chores...as well...

    swearing off dbasopsile coffee cups. Somehow I havent quite got around to adding it to my list of official resolutions; let alone taking it serious enough to last more than a day without a cup. I am a wandering English
