Nature's Emporium

Nature’s Closet, Nature’s Emporium’s clothing department, offers clothing leagues above that found in conventional clothing stores. Not only is everything we carry functional, durable, and stylish, each item is also carefully made from environmentally conscious fabrics and materials - all ethically made, following socially responsible practices. In addition, we choose to support Canadian clothing companies that produce Canadian-made products as often as possible, in order to support the Canadian economy and reduce our carbon footprint. We carry something for everyone, with clothing available for babies, children, and adults.

Environmentally Conscious Fabrics and Materials include:

Organic Cotton: grown without harmful pesticides that pollute our air, water and food supplies; organic cotton is also extremely soft.

Bamboo: sustainable, as it is able to grow up to 48 inches in 24 hours; durable; functional as fitness wear as it has the ability to wick moisture away from the body; has antibacterial properties, which prevents bacteria from perspiration to form; extremely soft; has the ability to stretch.

Merino Wool: absorbs 30% of its weight in water, has natural anti-microbial and anti-bacteria properties, is effective for preventing odour, is extremely durable and is extremely comfortable. Clothing made from merino wool make great base layers as they help to regulate your body’s temperature.

Soy: antibacterial due to its ability to absorb moisture with a soft texture; these materials are made from the non-edible leftovers from the soy plant.

Hemp: fast growing, biodegradable, durable, and a great insulator that offers UV protection; it does not require chemicals to grow.

Safe Dyes: dyes that are plant or vegetable based and are handled in environmentally conscious ways.

Socially Responsible Practices include:

Fair Trade: ensures the workers are paid equitable wages for the work they produce and services they provide; ensure wages can support the workers.

Supports Community Development: companies that participate in programs that provide villages with things like clean water, child education, medical supplies, access to medical care and food supplies.

Child Labour Free: does not support the exploitation of child workers by employing older, non-school aged workers and adults.

Gives Back: a percentage of sales go back to a charitable organization. For example, 50% of clothing sale profit from Me to We Style are donated to Free the Children.

Nature’s Closet carries a wide range of styles and sizes of Crocs for women, men and children, as well as Little Soles, a non-toxic, Canadian line of soft leather shoes for babies and children. Socks made from organic cotton and bamboo charcoal are also available.

Nature’s Closet offers a variety of organic cotton baby blankets, bibs, stuffed animals and teething toys, which reduce the amount of chemicals babies and children are exposed to, compared to chemically treated clothing materials.
