Maple Employee Tests Positive for COVID-19

On Monday, May 4, we received notification from an employee at our Maple location that they tested positive for COVID-19.

Upon being notified, we contacted York Region Public Health with details of our response plan and have been following their direction on how to best handle this situation. We are awaiting confirmation of test results from York Region Public Health and for their investigation to be concluded; it is underway.

Due to the nature of their work, this individual had very limited to no contact with customers. After feeling unwell on Friday, May 1, this person left work that afternoon and has not visited a Nature’s Emporium location since.

Out of an abundance of caution, we had our Maple location professionally and meticulously sanitized following the employee’s departure as they had exhibited COVID-19 symptoms.

Public Health officials have advised that our Maple location is safe to remain open. As you know, we have introduced several new health and safety measures since the onset of this pandemic and we continue to consult with officials on what more can and should be done.

We have, and continue to take extra measures to ensure the health and safety of our team and customers, this is our top priority.

We have taken careful and immediate action, including:

  • Following the guidance of health officials at York Region Public Health and remain in contact with them as they continue to assess the situation and determine any next steps
  • Ongoing communication and updates to you as developments (if any) come to the surface
  • The Maple location has been thoroughly and professionally disinfected
  • Any of our team members who were in close contact with this employee have been asked to self-quarantine for 14 days

These steps are in addition to the added health and safety protocols that we have established in response to this pandemic.
